Do not buy this tom tom - i drive through the city ( london)for work and all i can say is this device loses signal all the timeeven in none built up area's and takes forever to find a signalwhen you start it up and puts you on the wrong road for about100m even with my house programmed in to it. You also need to connect the TomTom Via 135 to the internet, download and install the TomTom Software "MyDrive Connect" and this should then install all the updates to your already installed European Maps.

Have had this sat nav for nearly a year now. Have used it in the uk and in france and have found it very reliable overall. Would still recommend you have a map with you just to cross check sometimes. We experienced slight problems with unexpected road works when navigating through a city in france, tom tom just kept repeating the same instructions, so kept in a loop.
